Hey guys!

Just a quick post to promote Atlantic Record’s newest star, Brianna Perry. Her new ‘smash single’ as it’s been described ‘Marilyn Monroe’ and a tribute to the late Hollywood icon herself. I wasn’t too keen on it at first (which you can see/hear below), but it’s actually really catchy and Brianna Perry reminds me of a cross between Shontelle/Nicki Minaj/Keri Hilson. Check it out!

2nd February 2012 ~ I got Born To Die!

After blogging about Born To Die, the amazing new album by new singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey, I finally went out and bought it today - as you can see (above).

I’ve seen tweets and articles saying that she’s overrated etc, but I think she’s UNDERRATED. I love the album so much and I think she’s so talented. She’s my new obsession! I love every song on the album but, I was disappointed that the track Driving In Cars With Boys didn’t make the album as it’s one of my all-time favourite songs by Lana. But who cares? The rest of the album is amazing and everyone should go out and buy it if you haven’t already!

Happy February everyone!
Today is the first day of February and I know that it’s going to be (mostly) amazing as I have quite a lot planned for it.

I’m starting off the month with pretty much school stuff (revision, ugh) but then from the 10th - which I will be celebrating my friends birthday on - it all goes crazy. I’m leaving England on the 11th and heading over to Los Angeles with my friends from school for an amazing trip where I’ll be going to Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, Disneyland and loads more! I’m really excited for it, and I’m going to need to start packing soon.

I get back from L.A on the 19th February where I don’t have to go straight back to school as thank God, we have two inset days. Then, after that I have a big dance performance which I’ll have to prepare for, then I’ll be getting ready for March! So, it’s pretty much full on!

Whatever your doing this month, I hope you have fun and the weather (it’s supposed to snow!) doesn’t stop you doing that. Expect less blog posts because of how busy I’ll be; but when I do post blogs, they’ll be amazing!

Just listened to Pixie Lott’s brand new album Young Foolish Happy and seen her new video for Kiss The Stars. I’ve been a fan of Pixie since her debut in 2009, and actually met her backstage at one of her early gigs that same year in Brighton.

Pixie is such a lovely girl and spent ages talking to me and having a picture which you can see on my Facebook page (I’m not going to post it on here because of the simple fact that it is majorly embarrassing, haha). Anyway, this post is just to say that you guys should go out and BUY THE ALBUM! In my opinion, it’s not as good as the first album - which I thought was very acoustic and showed off her full talent - but, it is really good and fans of Pixie will not be dissapointed.

The next single - Kiss The Stars - is, in my opinion, not the best song on the album but definitely single worthy. It takes a few listens to get used to the song, so if your a first-time listener be sure not too judge so quickly! The video is even better and Pixie has done what we thought was impossible - combined every female superstar you could think of (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj…) to make an incredible video which includes loads of different, unique elements and ideas. For those who know me personally, will know how much I love Lana Del Rey (above) and how long I’ve been waiting for her new album, Born To Die.

Ever since I heard her massive hit Video Games, I became instantly obsessed and some of my other favourite tracks by her are Blue Jeans and the newest single, Born To Die (which is also the title of the album as mentioned). Anyway, Lana’s (real name Elizabeth Grant) brand new album has been ON REPEAT in my house all day! My favourite tracks of the album are obviously the singles she’s already released but, I also love Summertime Sadness, Million Dollar Man and Radio. 28th January 2012 ~ No Updates & Feist!

I just wanted to say sorry for the lack of updates! My computer has been broken and the Tumblr app on my phone doesn’t let me edit the HTML which I need to make each update look pretty and go with the theme! Also, this is totally off topic but I wanted to post a video of a song called 1234 by the incredible Feist! For those who don’t know who she is, then check her out as she’s an amazing female artist who has recently been nominated for a BRIT Award.

From this weekend, I’ll be posting more updates and posting a brand new page which I hope you guys are gonna love.

On February 21st, London’s The O2 will be taken over by the biggest, best and most star-studded of all awards ceremonies - The BRIT Awards 2012 with MasterCard. Once again the Awards will be hosted by multi-talented actor and comedian James Corden, and they will also be broadcast live on ITV 1.

10th January 2012 ~ Exams, Exams, Exams...

This week is my major exam week and I have so many exams to take so really I should be revising for them! But no. I’m updating my blog, once again.

I’ve got exams in Science, Dance and ICT (one of which is 2 hours long…) and these are pretty much my hardest subjects: plus, I’ve got tons of coursework due and deadlines for Drama performances, plus more revision classes to attend. I’m telling you this because it means a lack of updates as I barely have any free time as it is! Although, I will be doing a huuuuuge post spree this weekend, blogging about everything I’ve missed this week - so stay tuned!

Also, if your taking exams this week or over the next few weeks, good luck! Though I doubt you lot won’t need it as much as me… xo

It was announced earlier today that Beyonce had given birth to her’s and Jay-Z’s little girl named Blue Ivy Carter. Although nothing official has been announced yet, a photo of Bey and the ‘baby’ has been leaked here. Official celebrity accounts on Twitter have taken to the social networking site to congratulate them:

7th January 2011 ~ L.A Trip + Updates!

I thought I’d do a personal blog entry today and talk about where I’ll be going in 35 days from today… Los Angeles. I’m soooo excited and I’m already putting together a blog from my one week trip to California which will include lots of pictures and information of my experience there.

I’m going with my school, so I’ll have loads of friends then which will make it even more fun and were doing all the tourist stuff: Venice Beach, Walk Of Fame, Universal Studios etc. This also means that I’ll be away on hiatus for ONE WEEK. So, for this time there will be no updates until a few days after I get back! Also, in the lead up until I go away, I want to post as many blogs as possible but I need ideas on what to post them about, so please get in touch via my twitter page @heymegzy and let me know what you’d like to see. Thanks to the hype about him on social networking sites, I couldn’t help but notice all the attention Michael Kiwanuka was getting, most recently because today it was announced he won BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. I’ve just listened to a few of his songs and although it’s not really the type of music I like, I love his song ‘I’m Getting Ready’. Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about him:

Michael Kiwanuka is a British soul musician of Ugandan heritage who is signed to Communion Records. He has been compared to Bill Withers and Otis Redding,as well as Van Morrison andthe Temptations. On 6 January 2012, the BBC announced that he had won the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll.

4th January 2011 ~ Rihanna is Da One!

I’m dedicating this post to the mighty Rihanna who just seems to be doing the same as Beyoncé and releasing hits after hits! Her newest album, Talk That Talk, came out in November which I think - if I’m honest - was a bit too quick after her previous album Loud. My favourite songs from the album are You Da One (below), Drunk On Love and Talk That Talk which features Jay-Z.

Overall, it’s a really good album and Rihanna is supposed to be back in the studio early this year to work on the next one which I think is crazy because she’s going to be exhausted. She should just enjoy the success thats coming to her at the moment, she’s too good to her fans!

4th January ~ RIP Ben Breedlove

I came across this video last night which was posted by someone I knew on Facebook. I don’t usually click on other people’s links, but for some reason I did on this one. Click the link (below) which will take you to a video recorded by Ben Breedlove when he was alive. He suffered from cardiac arrest and had near-death experiences - which he talks about in his video - until the fourth experience that lead to his actual death.

Please take a minute to watch his inspiring and incredibly emotional video HERE. My thoughts are with Ben and his family and friends, I can’t imagine what they’re going through right now, but I bet they’re so proud. RIP Ben.

3rd January ~ Nirvana who?

As a pretty big Nirvana fan myself, I was interested when I saw this photo (above) of a group of boys, playing as a tribute to the band - Novana. I checked out they’re website and they are actually pretty good, and if your a fan of the original rock band and you live in the UK, then your in luck as they are pretty much touring everywhere - performing all the boys biggest hits. Here’s what they’re official website says:

This is the official site of the best Nirvana tribute act to date! Not only do the guys have the sound, but they have the look, the sets and the passion (as well as a few million pieces of broken instruments). 2nd January ~ 'The January Sales'

So, I went shopping in the January sales just before the start of 2012 (ok, not exactly January…) in Brighton and well, I was a bit dissapointed. As well as being absolutely packed - I expected it to be busy, but not THAT busy - the sales wasn’t even that good, and most things in the sale were ugly/gross/damaged in some way which made them put down the price. I didn’t buy anything worth mentioning, just things that I actually needed. My best friend, Laura, went aswell. Here she is posing by Brighton Pier, and again in Costa Coffee.

We stayed in Brighton until quite late at night, and the weather actually felt warmer than it did during the day. I took a photo of a clocktower, decorated with Christmas lights in Brighton, too.

Lady Gaga posted the cutest and a really inspiring tweet on New Years Day (yesterday). It said:

‘My new years resolution: Never be afraid to be kicked in the teeth. Let the blood and bruises define your legacy. - Lady Gaga 2012’

I thought it deserved it’s own post, because it is now my New Years Resolution, too. I never really make resolutions because I don’t see they point: I make them, just to then go and not even stick to them. But, this is one that I think I can really do - especially as I really want to get into performing arts this year!
